Join us in and more than 800 breweries across the globe in what Marcus Baskerville, Weathered Souls Brewing Company's Head Brewer/Founder, calls a 'worldwide initiative.' The base recipe is an excellent starting point for experimentation: Marcus and several collaborators are currently fermenting batches with pecan, Rwandan coffee, sugar cookies, vanilla and bourbon barrels, to name a few ingredients. His brewery boils its barrel-aged version of this recipe for 6 hours, minimum. You don't have to go that far, but a longer-than-usual boil is highly recommended. Our recipe assumes a one hour boil, but add more water to the initial wort if you want to boil longer. "This platform and collaboration is about understanding and supporting people of color and inclusion. We ask that you please stand with us to create something that has never been seen before and show the world the brewing community is one of a kind. For the beer we thought it be appropriate to brew a stout, as it is in the name of the initiative, Black is Beautiful. Weathered Souls will provide the recipe for the stout base, please place your own spin and love into this." -- Marcus B, Owner & Brewer, Weathered Souls Brewing

Profits from the sale of this beer recipe kit will benefit the ACLU of North Carolina.

Please note: This is a high ABV beer, and the heavy grain bill may be too large for certain brew systems or set ups. You may need a bigger mash tun or brewpot than usual. The instructions we provide are a simplified version of the steps you will go through during your brew day. Our instructions are based on brewing this beer with our small shop system, or our personal brewing equipment. Some steps can be changed to fit your brewing equipment and processes. There may be some differences in your own brewday and beer. Cheers!

Bottle caps and priming sugar are not included but are selectable on this product page.
