In this case, the metaphorical warmth stirring your soul may be a bit of heat from this 7% Old Ale. These beers are not quite as strong as a barleywine, but less hoppy and more suitable to aging. In the past, they were stored away for one year or longer, and, occasionally, aged on Brettanomyces in a barrel. This might be a good one to sock away somewhere and break out on a birthday.
