NeighBREWhood Newsletter

May 2016

We're excited about several things coming up here at Atlantic Brew Supply this month. It's going to be a great one! First up, come on Saturday to take a part in our Bigger Big Brew for National Homebrew Day - details below!

Introducing: Epiphany Craft malt

New malts from Durham!

We're happy to be able to stock locally-malted 2-row pale malt from a new local maltster!

Epiphany Craft Malt is based in Durham, the brainchild of long-time local pro brewer Sebastian Wolfraum - you have to check out pictures of their malting facility on their Facebook page. They have a custom-built automated malt house which will allow them to produce local malts at a volume the likes of which we've not seen before. Plus, coming soon, they'll be producing locally-roasted Caramel Malts

For now, we have lots of their 2-row Pale Malt in our shop, for sale at the very reasonable price of $1.55 per pound (a price comparable to Briess!). Support your North Carolina brew scene and brew local!

Homebrew Con

Come and visit our booth at Homebrew Con 2016 in Baltimore this June! We'll have giveaways, including plenty of life-giving, delicious beer. This is the yearly convention of the American Homebrewers Association - we can't wait to have a blast with you all!

Carolina Quarterly Brew Off

Thanks for all of your entries for Quarter 2's competition! As we get ready to judge this quarter's entries, it's a great time to consider what you'd like to submit for Quarter 3. Details will be announced soon on Facebook, and will be described in full in June's newsletter. More information can be found on the competition webpage (http://carolinaquarterlybrewoff.wordpress.com/ ).

Hop Rhizomes

Limited stock remains!

We still have a handful of rhizomes in stock - get them while you can! It's not too late to plant hops in your back yard. We still have some Nugget, Galena, and Brewers Gold rhizomes grown by Three Horses Hops

Bigger Big Brew
for National Homebrew Day

THIS Saturday, May 7th, starting at 9 am

We're excited to celebrate this Saturday! May 7th is National Homebrew Day and brewers all over the world will be brewing at Big Brews - here at our event, we'll have 3 recipes on sale - 30% off if you take the recipe kit home, and 50% off if you bring your equipment and brew with us in Raleigh Brewing Company's brewery!

We're also giving away things to people who are brewing on-site with us - little and big stuff that you won't want to miss.

The recipes of the month for May are the official AHA recipes for National Homebrew Day, plus one awesome IPA recipe of our own, and will be 30% off all month long:

Hops For Days! This special continuously-hopped IPA was made in the mold of Dogfish Head's 60 Minute and features a hop blend curated by our very own Wizard of IPAs, Ethan. He is keeping his hop blend secret, but describes it as "dank, in-your-face fruity and resiny." Celebrate National Homebrew Day by overloading on hops! (All Grain, Extract)

AHA's Strike Team Chanukah Altbier (All Grain, Extract

AHA's Summertime Ginger Ale (All Grain, Extract)

Here's the low-down for brewing with us in our brewery: we'll provide pH-adjusted water to brew with, wort chillers, sanitizer and cleaner, and you bring the rest of your brewing setup (pot, burner, etc). These events are always full of good cheer among homebrewers - come and meet a new face!

The event begins at 9am and we ask that if you're brewing on-site, please set up your equipment by 10 am as we'll need everyone to be done and out of the brewery by 2 pm. Contact us if you have any questions!

Beertown Brown

The winner of the Carolina Quarterly Brew Off for 2015, Korey Sullivan's "No Bollocks Brown Ale", has been rebranded "Beertown Brown" and will be the centerpiece of an upcoming Raleigh Little Theater production called Beertown, premiering on May 6th!
