Monastique (formerly Aromatic) malt is a more toasted form of pale malt. Gives a strong taste of cooked bread, nuts and fruit. The malt has a bitter flavor which mellows on aging, and can be quite intensely flavored. This malt is typically used as a small proportion of the grist in the production of beers requiring some substantial depth of color and flavor. Recommended usage is up to 10% of the grist. 20° L.
